Bass sounds bad? strings maybe.

Hey whats up

I recently changed my old DR Hi beams (light guage)for GHS boomers (medium guage).

Lately ive hated the sound of my bass through my amp. Its not nearly as growly or punchy as it was before.

Is this a result of changing my strings? I would've bought another set of hi beams but they were sold out.

in what way would the boomers compare in sound to the high beams?

IMO you went from one of the best sounding strings around to one of the worst, and you changed guages. I'm surprised you're not complaining about playability as well. If you can't find high beams locally, order them from www.juststrings.com.

The GHS strings IMO were a giant step backwards.

You mentioned they were sold out of your regular strings. I make it a point to have an extra 2 or 3 set of my preferred stings in my gig bag for instances just like this.
