Question bass string endorsements?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've noticed its easy to get amp endorsements (got one from basson easily).
But I'm having a hard time finding a place to give me a good string endorsement.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

First, get the terminology right (that's important to the thread, not just nit-picking). "Endorse" in this context means to recommend. And D'Addario wants YOU to recommend their strings to others, but they're not really interested in recommending you to others. So, you want to endorse the strings you really like, right? Or are you wanting to be an endorsement whore and hype anyone who'll give you something? If it's the first, then contact the company whose strings you love. If it's the second, most string companies don't need your endorsement because they've already got people who love their product.

If you really love a particular company's product though contact them. Tell them who you are, why you're well known enough that YOUR endorsement of them will influence enough other players to make a difference to them. Otiel Burbridge got his D'Addario endorsement well after he was pretty well-known because he told someone that he found himself buying D'Addarios even though other companies were giving him strings for free. That person was connected to another D'Addario endorser who hooked the company up with Otiel.

Do you love it or just want free stuff? If it's free stuff, you're probably gonna be disappointed. The music biz is pretty small and not highly profitable. Despite the jaundiced perception a lot of people have, most companies don't pay folks to endorse product, and don't give stuff away. They do however provide a lot of backup support, loan gear for specific gigs, etc.
