When I started out I snapped an E, A, and G. I haven't snapped a string for ages now.

I've only broken an E string before and I'm still wondering as to how I did it. I had played my bass in the morning, left it on the stand and no one touched it and it didn't go anywhere, pick it up a few hours later and start playing; not very hard or anything and all of a sudden the E string breaks. I still to this day (like 9 months later) don't know how that happened.

Lots

Hmm, I break an E or an A every 10-12 gigs on average. Until this thread I thought that was normal!

Hey.

I play DR low riders. Great strings. I had D'addario slowwounds on there. I broke the E had to replace them I choped em tuned em started playing again and broke the e and b at the same time on a brand new set. I have busted a g twice I think. I have also broken a tuner too. I feel more like a man when I break bass strings. Just not during a show. That really sux. That has happened once.

ALL

I have broken every string at one time or another... (expect the high C because I have only played on 4's and 5's)

So.... B, E, A, D, G

And I have broken every brand I have played on...

Rotosounds, Markleys, D'Addarios, Some funky ones with a plastic coating, and a ton of others I can't remember...

Rotosound Swing Basses seem to last me the longest and I really like the way the sound through my rig!

I've broken the E string on my bass twice in my life....never ever broken any other bass strings!

It happened twice, one week apart at band practise. Playing the same song on 2 different basses. Both times it was an Elites Stadium .105 E string......I don't buy Elites strings any more.......

E twice & G, also Elites funnily enough.

Switched back to D'addarios and haven't broken a string since.
