Bass sucks life out of strings?

So I have a ESP bass that has emg hzs and it is neck through (if that matters). Whenever I put new strings on, the bass sounds awesome. But in less than a week, the strings sound dead. It isn't that it is getting a lot more playing than usual, I have replaced a few basses' strings at the same time (including this one) and this bass still sounded dead in a few days. I put on some DR MMs and it couldn't last any longer. I no longer buy strings for the bass because I feel like it goes to waste. I just give it the sloppy seconds of other basses whose strings I change more frequently. Is there anything I can do?

Wash your hands before you play. Try a little bar keepers helper, that will really dry out your hands so you don't deposit a bunch of oil and sweat on the strings.

Try a different brand of strings.

I typically don't play finger style on this bass. And other basses that I play a lot more, their strings last a lot longer.

Playing w/ a pick?

Maybe a heavier gauge of strings?

Wipe off your strings after you play.

If the scale length equals the other basses you've got, then it's not due to extra tension. It might be caused by a rough picking style, but that's not very likely. Another possibility could be the pickup(s). If their output is low, compared to the other basses, the strings may appear 'older' a little earlier. The distance between strings and pup(s) may be reduced to create more output with a little more highs. Further thinking brings me back to the strings themselves. Is there any possibility that they are twisted, between bridge and nut? If so, it won't do them any good.

Raise the pups. The stock pups are a little weak compared to most active basses.

The bass is only a wooden frame you stretch the strings over. It only makes contact at the nut and saddle. If those are fine, I'd say it's probably the strings.

Some strings just like certain basses better than others.

The dead sound is the true sound of your bass. Been there. There is nothing you can do about it. Some bases just naturally sound that way, sorry.

A lot of bass players don't like the clank sound of new strings, so it's not all bad.
