| | | | Daddario makes a special set for Fender Bass VI: Daddario XL156 that has these gauges 024-034-044-056-072-084.. Those should fit. They are all round wounds as far as I remember. I know of at least one other brand that makes something similar, but with gauge 094 E. But I can't remember the brandname.
But I'm sure you can buy all kinds of strings a piece, or even have them custom made somewhere.
Ar you gonna build it out of short scale or baritone parts?

Where can I find companies where I can put together my own string packs or get someone to custom make some for me?

Fender Bass VI strings = 36" Ball End to Silk (Small ball ends & small diameter at tuning post)
Hellcat VI strings = 32.75" Ball End to Silk (Small ball ends & small diameter at tuning post)
La Bella does make stainless rounds for the Fender Bass VI as well. |

La Bella does make stainless rounds for the Fender Bass VI as well. | Is the extra length on the Fender ones because of the trem? Also, do Bass VIs use regular guitar tuners? I have a build for the summer I'm planning and I though a Bass VI would be cool... |

I have had people buy the Hellcat strings to put them on a Fender VI (don't think they were original though) and they were too short.
As far as I can tell both use guitar type tuners hence the smaller diameter tuning post sections. La Bella does this on the Hofner Beatle Bass and Fender Mustang Bass string sets as well. |

But the Bass VI does have string through body and a jag style trem bridge, both of which would necessitate a longer string (I think). |

Bass VI strings are about medium scale length. Though long scale should work above A. The Guitar style tuners are vintage spec with plenty of room for a tapered bass string end. The tremolo can accept both small (guitar style) or large (bass style) ball ends. Most Bass VI strings are small ball ends.
Word on the street is that D'Addario is about to start offering every string that they produce as singles. That means that you will be able to get a medium scale .095 single to add to the Bass VI set for way less than the Labella Bass VI set. Through http://bassstringsonline.com(BTW this guys is a real pleasure to deal with) that would set you back about $16 plus shipping.
On another note I emailed DR about doing a Bass VI Sunbeam set and they, while being as helpful as possible with what they had to offer, did not seem too interested in producing a new Bass VI set. Time will tell if things will change since this new Pawn-Shop Bass VI will most likely spike demand. I'd really like to see a Sunbeam set but would be pretty happy if D'addario would just fix their low E gauge. That's really all that is wrong with the strings they offer after all.

Wondering if they would be a contender for the Fender VI... |

32.5" from the Back of the ball end to the start of the taper.
Remember it is a small ball end so if you go from the front of the ball end it is just under 32.4" |
