Exclamation BEAD, fretless, trubass

Hello there fellow low-enders! I've had my Squier Vintage Fretless Jazz Bass for over a year now and just recently tried the rotosound trubass88 on ot and just love that thump!. So I bought a 5-string set to convert my beloved fretless into a poor mans five string. Any advice towards this change? Input? Experince? Thanks in advance!

I have Trubass on my fretless 4 string and love the sound, they arent very versatile though, and you wont be able to sound like rounds of course.

But you said you like them on your other bass, so I'm sure you will like them on the fretless, as you know roughly what to expect. Mine sounds just like a double bass to me, so if that suits your style they should be great for you.

Also they last literally forever so will save you money changing strings if you like them.

Oh yeagh, you will need a new nut, or to file the one you have.

so i finally put the strings on my fretless jazz and wow talk about smooth. the B string barely fit in the badass II bridge but its there! i filed the nut slowly and now it is just well...a beauty. i call it the "dark sun" for the ebonal fretboard, black trubass strings and the sunburst body.

I was going to mention the bridge but forgot! Lucky it fit, I had to file the grooves on my badass (I'm talking about the bridge!!).

Look forward to seeing it (if you get time).

Man I was just thinking of BEAD'ing my fretless. I don't see it as a poor mans 5 string. I see it as the sound I want to here. The 5 lower notes that are gained are used way more than the 5 higher notes you lose. Well to me that is.

thats my actual train of thought as well but meant it in all good humor. i forgot to take pics so i'll do it tomm when I wake up. my bridge grooves are holding up nicely but when i had them filed i told the luthier of my future project so he made them a lil deeper than usual. thanks again for the post and ill put them up tomm when i wake up (i hope)
