bead strings pbass

i know its been talked about but i have squier pbass i wanna tune to bead (matt freeman sig).
i wanted to know if i would have to file the nut in this case if i were to use a .125 low b.

It depends on the brand of string. Some strings are tapered enough and will sit in just fine.

Does that bass have a bridge where you need to thread the string through the bridge? The .125 may not pull through... .120 may work better fitment wize in both the nut and the saddle. You could also get a tapered string like Josh described above which will sit in the saddle best.

its a top load bridge just like any other squier pbass i believe. (the saddles are kinda brassy looking). I was planning on using daddario 40-60-75-95-125 and dropping the 40. I had a look at the bridge and it seemed like there would be more space if i were to use a 125. Im concerened about the nut as it seems thin and the slots don't seem like they can hold too much of a string.

how should i go about filling a nut or the holes in the bridge if i encounter a problem? thanks

There are nut files available that match each gauge at Stew Mac. While your at it buy another nut blank and pull the existing so if you don't like the setup you can go back.
