BEADG to EADGC?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello TB,

I have a 5 string warwick rockbass tuned BEADG. If i were to buy new strings to tune it EADGC, would that change the tension enough to warp the neck? Are there other problems i should be aware of?

Point about the tension...though any changes in the neck could be sorted by a wee adjustment to the truss rod surely? (goodness knows how many threads on that - have a hunt!) but the only other problem I can think of is the nut...ruts might be a little large for the strings. But if it has the just-a-nut like other Warwicks, you could easily get a replacement for the top section.

That's my best guess nehoo, I didn't find the tension changed too much when I had my bass with different tunings. Good luck Mr! [edit] or just follow the far more useful link above. Haha, my bad.

I re-strung my Low B five to a hi-C five to try it out.
No issues with the neck but the G & D strings buzz a bit because the nut slots are
over sized. If you like the new string configuration have a new nut cut for the strings.
I'm having a 5 Hi-c built and if I don't like that I can go back to a low B by changing the nut. Have fun with it. It's different territory.
