Best flats for a Gibson EB0?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm in the process of trying to get the "most" out of my '70 EB0. I've tried Chromes and Rotosounds (monels) thus far. Both have been good in their own way (liked the Chromes a bit more), but I still haven't heard what I'm wanting to hear, y'know? As far as what I'm looking for... if anyone is familiar with the Daptone Records catalog (especially the Budos), then you know what I mean. Not to mention Willie Weeks' sound on 'Donny Hathaway Live' (I know - P Bass, but that's the sound I want from my Gibson). Old school, old school, old school...

As we all know, short scale flats ain't cheap, so I wanted to get some imput from Gibson players to hopefully lead me in the right direction.

I know the term "best" is completely subjective here, but any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
