agreed. fret-work can make or break a bass. and i myself do use a 40-95 set in the gauges markanini listed. although for tuning to A-standard, which i'm assuming is ADGCF, i would stick with a 45-105 set on the E thru G strings but go with a 135 for the B. the 135 will have a tension more consistent with the 45-105 set. even though it's a more standard set, the lower tension of down-tuning will make them more pliable.
