Best Round Wounds for a graphite neck?

Sign in to disble this ad
I’m almost done building my 3rd custom bass using a fretted Moses graphite neck w/ alder body and wenge top. So I was wonder which round wound strings everyone would use. Currently I’m using Ken Smith Rock Master on all my bass’s and will probably use them here too. Just wanted to see what fellow TB’ers thought.

I always loved DR high beams on my Q5 and Moses basses.

Thanks I might try some DR's. Are there any other suggestions?

I prefer nickel roundwounds on graphite neck (moses actually), because I found stainless roundwounds too bright with graphite necks.

I use d'Addario XL, I like their growly tone...

I loved GHS Boomers on my Jazz, however I tried them on my Fender 51P RI and hated them. I use DR High Beams.

If you like a set of strings on your basses, then by all means try them on this one, however different pups etc can sound good with one type string but another pup may not.

DR Fat Beams are good
DR High Beams are good if the pup is not too overly bright sounding.
