Best string choice G&L LB-100

Howdy, What string choice would work best for a G&L LB-100 I was thinking about D'ADD half rounds to loose the finger noise but keep the snarl?
Any one have some first hand experience with the LB-100?

Here's what I have in the parts dept:

D'Add 1/2 rounds 45-100
Chromes 45-100
Fender 9050s 45-95
Labella 760fl
TI Flats

Of those what would you'all suggest? The LB-100 dosn't have the typical G&L MFD pickup, sound wise this is way more P bass like.

IME the D'Addario half-rounds lost their snarl after break-in, which didn't take very long. They sounded like dead rounds to me, which is fine if that's what you're after.

I personally like Chromes and TI flats. Both have very little finger noise but are still bright and lively.

hi guys,
brand new to the forum. i'm a hack bassist who is also a hack guitarist, ukeleleist, keyboardist, etc. Jack of all trades and master of none...(but apparently, a better bassist than anything else). So, lately, i'm simplifying, and focusing more on what I can do better, and letting those pesky 6-strings and 88 keys fade into the background. Four strings on the bass and the ukelele will be the focus for the seeable future.

anywho...I saw this thread come up from a Google search for 'G&L LB-100'.

I have two (and almost would like another! hence the search. hahaha....)

#1 is a Gold flake body with Rosewood fretboard. stock pup's, bridge and tuners, with a Hipshot D-tuner on the low string. My first bass...had it for about 15 years now.

I've run D'Addario roundwounds on this one since the beginning.

#2 is a more recent aquisition, bought as a backup for #1.
Cherryburst with Maple fretboard. Stock bridge and tuners. Pups recently changed out to Quarter Pounders due to the originals getting strangely microphonic.

I've gone to Chromes on this. The Maple neck is much brighter and snappier, and the Flats just bring some mellowness to it that matches it more closely with the Rosewood neck of #1. remember, this hack doesn't have a wide variety of 'sounds'. Heck, i'm playing a one trick pony playing P'basses anyways...I have enough trouble just getting my fingers in the right place. And I was using #2 as just a backup to #1.

With the recent servicing, setup and addition of the Quarter Pounders, #2 has kindof taken on a new life of it's own with my new band. I have to roll off a touch of the volume knob on #2 to get it in the territory of #1 now. The QP's are hotter, and when run full open has more drive and girth than the original pups. I like the change!

Anyways, that's my experience. You can hear #1 with Roundwounds on this track from my last band, a surf/rock instro band.
