| I have always used Di'Addario xl6's on my six string. I have had problems with neck twist with them on my Yamahas, though. If you look at the specs the d string holds about 10 pounds more tension than the rest of the strings. If you tuned down, however, they would work pretty well. Also, on my old warwick I use to use rotosound swing bass 66's. They ate at the brass frets a little, but sounded killer with a lot of growl. Fodera was another I used alot.
