best strings for acoustic?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have just recently puchased a Copley acoustic electric. I still haven't had it set up and I would like to go ahead and put some decsent strings on it. I have absolutly no idea what the best brand or type would be best. Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Question

Nylon tapewound strings are popular on acoustic basses. They can be had from LaBella and Fender as well as others, I prefer the Fender brand slightly, but also like the LaBellas. Also, various companies make Phosphor Bronze strings for acoustic basses, notably D'Addario and Elixer. I've tried LaBella tapes as well as Elixer and D'Addario phosphor bronze strings on my Tacoma and have found that I prefer the D'Addario phosphor bronze. The TI "Acousticore" strings are popular with some folks, I've never tried them.

I've been wanting to try something different on my ABG for a long time, but for some reason I just keep putting acoustic phosphor bronze strings on. How do the nylon tapewound strings sound unplugged? When I think about trying something different, I think about nylon tapewounds and flatwounds, but worry about putting flatwounds on because they seem to be relatively higher tension strings to roundwounds (at least on my electrics).

IMO, electric strings sound best on 'em.
