Best strings to do bends/vibrato?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a cirrus 5 with Dr Fat Beams SS. And Ummm strings bends just don't happen with these because they are soooo stiff.

I love however the slap tone they produce because they are so stiff. I hear alot of gospel players doing bends with the strings on certain notes giving it a chorus/vibrato sound.

What would be the best type of strings for that and still have a wonderful slap tone?

I would go with stainless steel lowriders from DR.

Low tension and great slap tone.

Hi Beams or Sunbeams from DR.
Or TI Jazz Flats.

They all have round core construction and that makes them more flexible on any axis.

Ken Smith Bass Burners or Rockmasters are also very low tension.

+1 for the Burners! Great strings for a gospel 5'r like me.
B-D tapered core, .125 B.....nice set!

Errm.. actually, I know I'm not the only one who considers lo riders to be among the most high-tension strings they've ever played.

Maybe not the highest tension strings (for me that would be LaBella Deep Talkin Flats), but DR Hi-Beams are definatley "looser" than Lo-Riders (Which are usually my string of choice, but lately I've been going with Lakland Nickels)

But to answer the original poster's question... Try to find the lowest gauge strings you can.
