| | | | Depends in part on the fretboard. If its nice ebony, Id go ahead and even use rotosound swing 66 on it. If rosewood, and esp low budget cheaper basses rosewood, then either DR neons or black beauties would be excellent choice for great sound and less wear imo. If higher end rosewood, I might still put rotosound swing 66 on it and expect to have minor fretboard fixup in a few yrs.

| | | | I like the GHS Brite Flats better than the other groundwound/pressurewounds listed.
I have heard great things about the thomastik-enfields. But I've never popped for a set, as they're pricey.
Tapewounds have more funk in them than you'd think. But get the heavier gauge. A .105 E string isnt really a .105 'cause the plastic wrap has so much less mass to it.
Anything out of the ordinary will have to be ordered on-line; no doubt about it. |

Nope. It'll chew it up way faster than you think. Way faster; months or weeks. |

If you use round wounds with compressed outer windings (compressed in this case meaning smaller diameter wrap wire) like DR or Fodera then they will have less wear than strings using larger outer wrap wire. |

I don't have his info, maybe someone can pass it along? |
