Best Strings - For a G&L SB-2

Here are the basses I have and the strings I usually use:

Gibson Les Paul DC - Usually use D'Addario XL's/Prosteels
Heavily Modded MIM Fender P-Bass - D'Addario Chromes
76' Guild JS - (this bass needs repair)

and now the big one! my new G&L SB2

i'm thinking i want rounds on it....but i still want some vintage low end mojo. Maybe I should go with some Half Rounds (?). i like bright zingy strings thus why i use pro-steels and XL's but maybe a set of DR Sunbeams or some type of "beam" variation would be good. if you have owned this and you're definitely digging your string choice let me know! any other suggestions are welcome! thanks guys

I normally say chromes to any G&L...
But, Sunbeams would be great if you like bright and zingy.

If you like chromes, try DR Hi Beam Flats. Traditional thump with cutting highs

I have been using SIT Bass Silencers on my SB-2 Tribute. I am really liking them alot, so much so that I have strung one of my P-Basses with them too. I did try Chromes on there, but felt it lost some of its aggression. JMO

I'm deviating a little but anyone have experience with dr miller fat beams or bootsy's on a g&l? Thanks!

I have a set of Fat Beams waiting in the wings for my SB-2, but I've been using GHS Boomers, and I've been very happy with them. Due to the lack of a tone control, I wouldn't want anything too zingy, and the Boomers provide a solid, punchy, no-frills type of roundwound tone without as much high end as some rounds. I also like their moderate tension.

. so i dont have to worry about excessive treble. im gonna try some fat beams and report back soon

I allways like the roto swing 66's on my sb2's.

I put DR Fatbeams on my L2000 and did it did wonders. The Fatbeams have more low mids/lows than the HighBeams but are still good for slapping. I tried them on my Sb-2 (which I sometimes use a pick on) and didn't like them as much. So I tried Dr Lowbeams (which have a little more tension) on the SB-2 and it was a good compromise. It was good for finger style, slap, and with a pick. I also have the tone mod. So take this with a grain of salt.

Been using GHS Brite Flats for some time on my SB-2 and really like them.
I have the tone mod which is a big factor in getting the sound I like.
