The pink Ernie Balls are fine on that bass. That's the 45-100 set. Very similar to the D'Addarios.

I might suggest the 45-100 DR Nickel Lo-Riders, as well. Very vibrant sound, a little stiffer than the Balls. They are harder to find than some other brands.

I use Daddario pro steels and they are fantastic on my SR505

'Best string' is entirely subjective... What style of music do you play?

Stick to roundwounds, and experiment from there.

I always preferred DR HiBeams on my SR800.

Elixer .045 - .105. You have to change your amp settings a little as they have a different tone than other roundwounds, but they last forever and sound so crisp!

I owned an SR some years back. I tried a bunch, and found Ken Smith Rock Masters to be the best match for my particular bass. My bass was maple/rosewood. You may have totally different results with a different wood combination.
