Question "Best" strings for Peavey T-40?

Flats or rounds?

I'm still wondering about the differences in tone between the two, in fact. Yes, I'm new to bass.

Which brand and model would you recommend for this bass, based on experience?

It depends on what style music you are playing. It was Rotosound Swing 66s for me for many years.

Think vintage stuff ; Beatles, classic rock.

What would be the difference between rounds and flats?

I have a T40 with daddario pro steels and a T40 with Chromes.

I play the flats more often. Put the pup selector in the middle, phase selector down, roll the upper volume knob back a pinch and pluck near the bridge.
