Best strings for playing metal

What are the best strings for metal that arnt too expensive?

Well, hold up there, slick. "Best" and "aren't expensive" are almost always mutually exclusive.

...and it's metal. As long as they're round and attached to your bass at both ends, nobody will notice, or care.

...... Steve Harris used flatwounds on his p-bass.... I used to use steel strings in a death metal band... I currently use nickel strings for my more current heavy metal band.

Seriously! There is no best string for any genre of music.
