Best strings for slap on a spector?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey TBers...
Own a spector euro LX 4...and am trying to get "that" slap tone.
Any suggestions? Running the stock strings as of now, they are good, but there must be better out there.

DR high beams and G Gould bass strings. The gould strings have a tapered B and E string and are being blown out by the bassplace right now ( perfect for spectors because of the taper). I just put a set on my euro and they gave it the scooped slap sound with the eq set flat. Give em a try, I purchased a five string set for around $27 bucks. www.thebassplace.com

Slightly going against the grain on this....I agree with DR's, but Lo-Riders or Fat beams would be my preference over High Beams for slap...fatter (and phatter) tone, but it really depends on your ears and the style of music you play...not sure how the taper will factor into this, tho.
