Ive got stainless Lo-Riders on my Sterling right now. Very growly and aggresive, great slap tone. If you want a more conservative sound, id try the nickel Lo-Riders.

I would say whatever you like to use now. That's the best place to start.

I just put a pair of Earnie Ball Super slinkies on there. It is aggresive as ever. Those are the strings that came on my bass.

I've only owned a Stingray 5 before, but when I had it, I tried many sets of strings on it, including D'Addario XL (my regular choice), Ernie Ball Slinkys, Elixirs, and Rotosounds.

Out of all of them, the Slinkys sounded the best. Very balanced sound, and easy on the fingers. I believe there's something to using the same strings made by the company to that bass.

DR Sunbeams... Soft feel - great tone IMHO.
