Black Beaties vs Red Devils

Sign in to disble this ad
Recently I got myself two packs of strings. The Black Beauties Heavy Taper and the Red Devils Medium.
I allways thought (and I think I even read it somewhere) that between the Red Devils and the Black Beauties the only diffence was the color (Obviously I ordered two different gauges and one tapered).
But here's the question: on the catalog it shows that both are on round cores.
On the package is says that the Black Beauties were on hex cores. I opened one end of a string and it indeed looks that way.
Is this only hex core on the tapered ones, or is this an old set, or is there realy a difference apart from the color?

I believe that DR uses only hex core for any of their tapered strings, coated or not.

You are right. I just recieved an e-mail from DR where they say that the tapered black beauties are indeed the only black beauties wich are on hex core.

The coated colored DR-string comes in many colors and gauges, all on round cores.
The tapered ones are only available in black and these are on hex core.
