blacktop jazz strings...

I have a Fender Blacktop Jazz with the original fender strings. I am thinking about replacing them, possibly with some flats. I have an unopened set of roto77s (45-105s) and am thinking about using these, however I had a set of these on a squier standard jazz and loved how they felt, but the sound didn't mix well with the other instruments. I am thinking that they may sound different with the precision pickups on the blacktop, on the other hand, I can buy something else and sell the 77s as an unopened set. What I would like to know is what strings you have on your blacktop jazz and how they sound. Would like the best of both world, brightness and a good deep tone as well. Any input appreciated....

Rotosound TruBass 88's - you'll get a lot more top out of those tapewounds and you'll get a crazy deep tone. No string/metal zing/zang but still a big fat bottom.

Since your pickups cancel hum, you won't probably have much of an issue with the lack of grounding through the nylon.

They play really well with others and will let you push your amp a bunch more than a typical roundwound. On the flipside, you may find that you 'have' to lay loud or work out tone with your band - cause chances are they'll love it and want to have you shine through.
