Blue Steels for 6-String?

Sign in to disble this ad
Fifteen or so years ago I played a lot, and loved Blue Steels on my 4 and 5 strings. After a too-long break I've returned to playing just for fun and bought an Ibanez 506. I was surprised to find that the Blue Steels weren't offered for a 6-string!

I just ordered some DR Fat Beams after reading up on them here and on Ed Friedland's review, but can anyone recommend a string similar to the Blue Steel in both sound and longevity that's available for a 6-string?

Or am I stupid and missed an obvious way to get the Blue Steels for the 6?

Confirm. No Blue Steel 6 string sets for Bass & the guitar string will be too short for bass.

That doesn't mean they won't make a suitable high C string to go with their 5 String set. Of course you may need to buy quite a few to justify the factory run. Give them a call or email. They are nice people who need to know there is demand for a 6 string Blue Steel set.

I use Blue Steels on my Alembic Orion Six. You can order individual C strings to go along with a five string set as mentioned above.

FYI/FWIW...you'll get reasonably close with a set of MTD SS strings.
