Body Through Strings???

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all,

I just got a Peavey Millenium 5string BXP bass as a back up stage gass.

The strings on it are flat and need to be replaced. Please give me some suggestions on strings that would do the job.

I play modern rock.

http://www.crashthemachine.com/Listen.html

In contrast to my Yamaha I would like this one to have more of a Jazz fusion sound as well as what you hear there.

On the Yamaha TRB I am using the MTD 135x (exposed core B) strings. But I don't know about the body through bridge thing...

Thanks in advance for you help/opinions

Get extra long scale, or Super long.
D'Adarrio makes goood stings, I love the Chromes flat wounds, but need Super long to fit my string through.
Other strings will still work. as long ans there are not tapered at the end.

D'addario chart

I measured my fender MIA jazz string through according the instructions at D'addario's website and came up with long scale. Actually, 36" was my measurement which is the high end of long scale.

Should I go with the Super Long Scale which starts at 36"?

Yes, after several different measuring methods I have determinded the current ball end to top nut measurement to be 36.25". It's pretty clear that I need the Super Long set of D'addario Chromes.

I use Ernie Ball 110's on my USA Deluxe P with no problem, string thru body. Plus they sound great. I would recomend these. I have never measured and never needed too... these work a treat. Fender 110TW also work fine (I tune low though and Ernie Balls are a bit tighter on the Low C# String.)

4 responses and nobody's jumped on this yet?

I tried as hard as could, and no matter what I did, I just couldn't get my body through the strings. Don't care what anyone says, it's impossible.

There. It's done. We can move on now.

No, no, no. That was just bassakwards. It is this way...

String through the body. Like ... like ... like ... nose rings, maaaan.

So get the D'addario Super longs ... Do they come in 135's? what are the guages? Where do I find them to see for myself?

Hey, I took some major hell the other day for spelling Epifani, "Epifany", so I was just aching to get someone back. Thanks for the opportunity. It felt good actually.
