Breaking Strings...

Sign in to disble this ad
I've always wondered about this. I've been playing almost 10 years now and have never broken a string on any bass... and I play hard.
What's the deal? Are people just retarded? Is it a bridge/saddle issue? Is it the type of strings? Do I need to be worried (Is it just a matter of time?)? Is this thread in the right place?
Not trying to insult anybody just curious.

I once had a friend who broke his A string twice when trying to tune it to F for a song he was trying to learn, i would think he would learn after the 1st time, but no; All this was on the same day, the A snapping scared the S t out of him.

I've been playing 1.5 times longer than you have, and I've broken one string. It was a brand new B string. I think it was a defective string. Saddle issues will do it, but I am not sure why some people seem to break more than others.
