Today I bought D'Addario 6-string set in SamAsh (they had only this one in store) and it doesn't fit my Brice HXB-406. I'll try to return them, but right now I'm stuck - most of sites has no info about bass scale size... Could you share your experience in strings for this nice bass or 35" scale basses at all with string-thru-bridge?
Any positive or negative experience are welcome. I'll try to collect all this wisdom and put somewhere in easy to reach place for owners of this nice basses.
I will be the first one:
* D'Addario EXL170-6 - doesn't fit
Thank you in advance. |

I've found that DR has strings wounded out to 37" 3/4. Will this fit to 35" bass with strings-thru-body bridge? |

Looks like "Long Scale" means 34". I've found that some manufacturers has "Extra Long" or "Super Long" models. For example DR has no such markup on any set. That's why I'm asking about real experience here... |

The LAB-760RL-6-EXL are the light rounds. LAB-760RM-6-EXL are the mediums. Coincidently, Rondo sells both types, or you can get them from juststrings.com. A little expensive, but they fit fine and are, IMO, great strings ..... |

My average LaBella flatwound set will last me at least 12-18 months, and I gig a lot ...
Of course, a lot depends on your individual style of playing and other things like slapping, sweating, note bending etc. There are some guys here that change their strings every few weeks ... that just makes no sense to me at all ... |

I'll try them. If they are as good as you describing - I owe you some beer. |

Yesterday I picked up LAB-760RM-6-EXL from my mailbox and tried to put them on my Brice. They almost fix. All strings are ok except low "B". The wounding ends in 1 mm before the nut. I spent half an hour in my thoughts and decided to put them on with a little hope that string will stretch enough to fit. It doesn't.
Anyway, the sound is really deep and nice without that twang of new strings I hate. And low "B" is ok. Maybe actual "B" has less sustain or color or whatever, but any other fretted note sounds great.
Resume. LaBella LAB-760RM-6-EXL - great strings (at least out of box). Next time (hope in a year or so) I'll try DRs. CSR of DR told me their 6-string sets wounded length is 37" 3/4. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
