DR Hi Beams. You'll love 'em. Good luck.

I've been playing a set of Hi-beams for the last...four months. And I think it's just about time to replace them. With Optima Golds. They're not incredibly bright, but they're brighter than my three-week old D'addario nickelwounds. So yeah...

What about Low Riders? Are they bright and do they last for long?

Fodera Victor Wooten Signatures

I tried the D'Addarios and found they did have a nice bright sound that lasted for a while. Then I tried Fodera Victor Wooten Signatures and haven't looked back since.

I use DR SS Hi Beams regularly on my Lakland, they're NOT the brightest strings I've used...

SIT SS Rock Brights are far & away the brightest sounding string I've ever lived with... TOO bright for my tastes, but I kept them for a year waiting for them to die... They never did loose thier zing, they just stopped staying in tune!

This comparision should tell you something.

+100 on the S.I.T. strings, I used to be a DR man until I bought my Benavente and it came with the S.I.T.'s
And you can get them for like $18 a set from www.juststrings.com

I am happy with stainless steel roundwounds. Been using them for decades on several basses. They are the brightest
strings I've ever used. Don't seem to matter which brand.

I really dig the elixirs I've been using them for years. They are NOT super bright strings by any means. I don't want bright so that's never been a problem for me. To me, they sound like what regular strings sound like after a week of use, but for 2 months instead of 2 weeks. No high end "zing" but the mids last forever

My favorite part about them is they are super slick all the time and play real fast with no string noise.

These are not for the pounding Fleas or hardcore pick players as the plastic coating gets torn up pretty quick whenever I use them like that.

DR Hi-Beams or SIT Stainless Steel Rock Brights are the 2 best choices for a good bright zingy tone IMO, and they both have a good life span. Rotosounds are good too, but i prefer DR or SIT.
