I put some DR SS Lo-Riders on my JO5 and they don't sound as bright up top as DR Sunbeams. Maybe more even in the mids, but definitely not as bright.

D'Addario Pro Steels are extremely bright.

I have used DR High Beams since they came out, and they are my faves. That being said, I recently tried the Sadowsky "Blue" stainless steel roundwounds and they may be the brightest I have ever heard. YMMV...

+1. D'Addario's strings are some of the brightest out there, if not THE brightest.

Last time I checked Elixers were stock D'Addario XL, but coated. With the coating they are not as bright as without. And XL are not as bright as Pro Steel or other bright stainless steel strings, although pretty bright for nickel-plated rounds.

what ever happened to GHS boomers? Those always seemed to be the brightest strings, period - but they didn't last too long. After that, DR Hi-Beams would be it - and they LAST
