| Broke a brand new Hi-Beam

Just bought a couple packs of DR Hi-Beams to try out on a new bass. I was setting up the bass for the new strings, action, intonation, etc., and broke the E string at the tuning peg.
I followed the DR instructions about crimping the string before cutting it short. Like I said they were brand new strings, just put them on yesterday.
I bought them from juststrings.com, should I email them? Or DR directly? Anyone have experience with either in such a situation?
I hate looking for handouts but breaking an E means ruining a whole another $35 pack of strings to get a new one, that was supposed to be saved for months and months. Not like I'm going to break an A, D, and a G in that time.
