Broke a brand new Hi-Beam

Sign in to disble this ad
Just bought a couple packs of DR Hi-Beams to try out on a new bass. I was setting up the bass for the new strings, action, intonation, etc., and broke the E string at the tuning peg.

I followed the DR instructions about crimping the string before cutting it short. Like I said they were brand new strings, just put them on yesterday.

I bought them from juststrings.com, should I email them? Or DR directly? Anyone have experience with either in such a situation?

I hate looking for handouts but breaking an E means ruining a whole another $35 pack of strings to get a new one, that was supposed to be saved for months and months. Not like I'm going to break an A, D, and a G in that time.

email DR directly, they are usually very good about honoring strings and also keeping the customer happy. Also depends if juststrings.com is an authorized reseller also.. possibly anyway

And if that doesn't work, juststrings.com sells single strings.

Sorry about the misfortune! I had this happen with Roto's last week.

You might have cut them too short. DR will replace them if you email them, though.

This is the first string I've broken since I started playing. Broke a couple from cheap strings, cheap basses when I first started out. Haven't broken any in about 6+ years.
I will regal them with this tale of woe.

They emailed me back right away and they're sending a new pack.

That's great customer service!
