Bronze strings on a Precision?

Sign in to disble this ad
Seems conflicting when I read up on bronze strings--they're described as both warm and bright. I see they're usually applied to acoustics but how would they work or not work out on a Precision? Any experiences or opinions? I just thought of it; it might be ideal for a P.

You need a string to vibrate in the magnetic field of the pickup. With bronze you would only pick up the core wire.

Acoustic guitars and basses normally use either a microphone, or a piezo to feel the vibration of the string at the bridge.

From juststrinngs.com: Electric guitars utilize electro-magnetic pickups. Therefore, string compositions for electric guitars must have highly magnetic characteristics. Bronze and brass cannot be sensed by the electro-magnetic pickup.

You know I was wondering the same thing but in the other direction I was going to ask if you could replace the bronze on an acoustic electric w/ something else?

I've been wondering about this every time I see the Bronze RotoSounds. Now I know. Thank you.
