Just bought some Warwick Black Label 45,65,85,105,135 strings and suddenly wondered if the guage is right for his bass. He mainly plays rock/metal.

Been to the Ibanez site and they recommend a 125 or 130
5th string so would a 135 be too thick or put to much tension on the neck????

Hey put them on adjust your truss and you're good to go. A thicker B string from 130 to 135 will put less tension on the neck than using a 50 G string instead of a 45, but yet this higher guage is fairly common.

Things will be OK, in fact, perhaps better.

Thanks. I guess I worry too much! The 135 does look physically thicker than the string it will be replacing!!! Being thicker won't it buzz more?

Arrow .135,

Iv'e used a 135,105,85,70,50 set on my SRX 655 and had no problem. I did a slight rod adjustment and set-up. I switched back to 130,100,80,65,45's because I've grown used to the lighter guage. So I had to add back some relief.
No major problems though. your bass should be able to handle it. No floppy B string with either set.
