Can i take the EADG of my 5er and put them on my 4?

Just got my Fender J back from a guy and because of his carelessness I've got spots of corrosion on my strings (among other places ). I've got a new set for my five string but don't have the scratch for a new set for my J. Can I just take the four from my five and use those for now? Of course all this depends on their length etc but assuming that is all kosher...

Yes, the strings in a 5 string set are just the same, but with a B. The only down side to doing it is you will be wasting the B, as after you have played the other 4 a while the unused B will sound much brighter when you eventually put them on your 5er. So better to discard the B IMO.

Oh, if the strings still sound fine, dont worry about the corrosion, but that depends on how you like your strings (dead, or new).
