can someone recommend a good heavy roundwound?

Sign in to disble this ad
evening gents and ladies
for the past 4 years i've been using rotosound flats (50-110's) its worked great with my last few bands i am however starting to get lost in the mix now our guitarist has changed his sound and our drummer has added more toms to the mix

i think rounds might give me the brightness i need to cut through i tend to max out my treble and play into the fretboard so i get a clanky sound (kinda like mr harris)

only problem is i'm used to heavy guage flatwounds and i've grown to love stiff strings (i find i can play faster and do runs and fills i cant with light guage)
can anyone recomend a good heavy gauge roundwound ideally high tension and stiff as hell?

i bought some power slinkys today but my past experience with ernie ball strings has not been a good one

thanks

Here's a few,
1. DR Lo-Riders 50-70-90-110's
2. D'Addario Xl Nickel Rounds 55-75-90-110's
3. GHS Boomers Nickel Rounds 50-70-95-115's

If you're playing in standard tuning, I don't advise going higher
than a 115 for an E string. Both the D'Addario and GHS' are the two most common heavy guage you can find.
If you can't find them at a store go to www.juststrings.com
Hope this helps.

You should try Knucklehead Double Wide Chunkies (.50 .70 .95 .110) They sound great and the website is hysterical - www.knucklehead.com Check it out!

DR Lowriders sound to me like the string you're looking for.

When I read the title, I immediately thought of GHS Bass Boomers. I used to play the heavy gauge which sports the .115 E, but I've since changed to the medium gauge .110. I'd give it a try, might be for you.

I know what you mean! The first time I saw those I thought that guy on the package was hysterical looking because there is a 10yr old kid around my neiborhood that looks like that guy!! When I asked for a pack I told the salesman to give me a pack of those FATHEAD bass strings, and he didn't have a clue what I was talking about!
