To change or not to change?

I bought a set of DRs last week to change before my band went into the studio. The plan was just to jam in the studio and get a feel for the place and whatnot. I brought my Lakland 55-01 but never actually got a chance to change the strings. In fact, I haven't changed them since I bought it in October. I just figured I'd make sure to change them before we started actual bed tracks and what not.

However, when we recorded full band live off the floor, they just DI'd my bass, and I've gotta say, it sounded so FAT! I couldn't believe how good it sounded.

So the question is, now that I know what the old strings can do, do I change and hope for the best? Or do I keep these since I know they'll sound great?

If you liked the sound of the old strings and don't want any more brightness in your tone, I see no reason to change them.
