Changing string gauges

Sign in to disble this ad
I currently have my MIM jazz V strung with a set of Thomastik nickel wound flats (.136, .100, .70, .56, .43) and I love the sound. however, being that I used to play heavier gauge strings, I tend to over bend on the D and G and want to string them with heavier gauges - also giving those strings a fuller, warmer tone. I have looked around online, and can only find strings of the gauges I currently have, so I'm thinking of stringing it .136, .100, .70, .70, .56, tuned B E A D G. So here are my questions:

Does anyone know if other gauges of TI jazz flats are available, and if I do setup my bass like this, how long should I wait for the neck to adjust to the new tension before I perform a setup?

Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks.

just remember to re-intonate your bass when you change gauges
