| Chaquita short scale bass Maybe this should go in strings so mods pls move if necc.
I have a Chaquita short scale travel bass. 6 strings, very short scale.
The bass is borrowed from a friend who was gifted by another friend. Therefore, he knows very little about the bass.
Strings were rusty so replacement was necessary. A clue to the type of strings (none of mine fit in the tuning pegs) was a receipt for D'addario xl155s (.84 to .24). They were designed for Jerry Jones basses but are no longer available. They've been changed to xl156 which are the exact same string but they dont have JJ's name on them.
I strung up the bass last night but the low E will not fit through the tuning peg. There is a LOT of leader (?) on the end of the string but the strings are made for a 30" bass and this is 23" (I don't really know, it's very short).
So....it's strung up, but no E! Any ideas?
guess I could cut the string a tie a knot (it's thru the body loading). Maybe cut it, shorten it and solder it.
I'd rather just buy a single string.
Maybe a 7 string guitar set would work.
