So I recently took the dive and bought a 6 string bass. Does anyone know a sting company I can go to that sells 6 string sets that are fairly good for a low price?

SIT makes fairly cheap strings; not sure if the make a 6 set or not.

Hard to beat Carvin for the price:
Carvin.com :: 6011

And SIT does make a 6 string set:

I second the Carvin strings. They are made by LaBella and are much cheaper if purchased from the Carvin website. SIT sets are also reasonableif you get them from juststrings.com.

Well thanks guys, I found out I need a specific gauge also. I need like .125 - .30s . The bridge won't hold a .130, weird 0.0

I recommend D'Addario. They make pretty much strings for any bass, as for your .130 problem, i've never herd of that. They also can help you with pretty much whatever tone you go for from your strings. I personally use D'Addario Pro Steels for that extra brightness in the strings.

The Carvin/La Bellas are taperwound, I think. That tapered B will fit any bridge pretty much.

yep, carvin #6011 is what i've been using for many years, simply because of the rediculously low price, around 16.99 factory direct, i buy in bulk so i always have a few extrea sets on hand, to me they play and sound just as good as almost any other and yes they are taperwound near the bridge which give them a nice piano like sustain and keeps them brighter sounding for longer, i've tried other strings that were not tapered and the thicker ones sounded dead right out of the package, and yes they fit just about any bridge. highly recomended.

Splurge and go for Circle K strings. They have a nice long lifespan.

Get Naked!

Naked Strings are pretty decent! Choose your gauges to your liking! And cheap!

I had a Curbow 5er that wouldnt accept the .130 B. I just reamed it out a tiny bit with a drill bit and no problems!
