Cheap Hartke strings

I went to Sam Ash for a set of the $10 Hartke "Transient Attack" strings. The guy there told me they sucked and sounded like rubber bands, but I was very low on cash.

I've been through every kind of guitar string, so I know that different brands really do make a difference. I still know very little about bass stuff, but I don't think these strings sound bad at all. They're bright and clear, the bass intonated with no problems, and they stay in tune very well.

At the moment, I'm playing through a guitar practice amp with modeling stuff in front, but guitar changes (strings, pickups, etc....) are all quite apparent. Is there something I'm missing about the strings, or is it one of those things that I'll notice once I'm using a "real" amp?

Nevermind.... I just searched (should've done that to begin with) and found a bunch of opinions on them. I'm gonna use this set till they sound bad, then try some of my "usual" brands (D'addario, DR, SIT, EB, etc....)
