Chrome Flats D Tuned

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello fellow TBers

I had a set of D'Addario Chrome Flats that I took off of my Skyline DJ 4. They were just too high tension for me. I ended up putting Sunbeams on it and it now has the right sound for me.

So what to do with the Chromes? They sat on a shelf for a while until I had an idea... I've always wanted to have a modern bass that I could tune to D. I play in a gospel band and since there is a major keyboard component, I like the idea of having a low E flat and an open C string.

Enter my Lakland 4401. I added the Chromes and tuned it DGCF. The tension feels much more to my liking, and I have a couple of extra notes to use.

I use a d-tuner w/my chromes, the 100 E string was not thight enough for me, the 105 is better IMO.

I'm using the set with the 105.
