Does this look right? The silk wrap on the B is much farther up in this set. It's my first set of 5 string Chromes.

Thx

I think you're fine.

If the fat part of the string goes up around the post too far, it can make the string break, but that doesn't look too bad.

Silk wraps on strings are an inexact science.

Was this an actual 5 string set or did you purchase a 4 string set and add a single B?

Also, are all the strings strung through the bridge or through the body? And if through body, is the B string NOT strung through the body?

Bringing this thread to the attention of someone at D'Addario for their input too...

All strung through the bridge. And I purchased a full 5 string set, ecb81-5 iirc.

It does seem as if the B was meant for a super long scale and not a long scale as even the taper on the B gets wrapped halfway on the tuner.

I'll email D'Addario on this as well. No playability issues though.

Looking at the chromes on my Yamaha 5, the silk ends around 1/3 of the way from the nut to the B tuner. .132, long scale, strung through bridge.

Sounds like my B isn't the same as yours....

Do all your silk/tapers line up with each other?

Sorry for the lag gents - been on the road for the last few days.

That "B" string doesn't look right to me. Shoot me an email at don.dawson2@daddario.com. We'll get you a replacement out to you.
