Chromes Sizing?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking at getting D'addario Chromes for my Artcore, but I'm not sure what gauge or length to purchase.

I'm used to something a little more flexible, as attested to by the fact that I use roundcore strings on everything. I'm thinking this set: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...Set?sku=100277

Will these be long enough on the 2x2 headstock with Gibson-style two piece bridge? Or is there somewhere online I can find the measurements for these strings.

I'm running into this problem right now as well - I also started a thread about the winding length on chromes. They didn't work on my J when I strung them thru the body and not even close on the Artcore, I'm talking about the Long scale - only on the E string though, the silk wrap didn't seem to clear the nut. The only reply to my thread mentioned Super Long scale which sounds like it'll do the trick cause it didn't need much to clear and work properly.

I use 34" Thomastik-Infeld flats on my Artcore and those work great - but at $47/set that's more than double the price of Chromes.

EDIT: I didn't even check your link before replying, duh... as I mentioned, these should do the trick for the Artcore, I will try them myself when the TI's pass their time.

Great, thanks! I'd love to put the TI's on this bass as well, but it's not economically feasible. Plus, if I were to break a string, I'd feel like a little piece of me (and my wallet) died. If I found another set for the $26 I paid on the classifieds, I'd jump on them in a heartbeat. Oh well, Chromes it is!
