I bought a set of chromes for my MIA J. I like their sound, but I darn near couldn't get them through the dingy-dang bridge. I cut a ton of silk off the B, but still just barely managed to fit it through. Is there a set of flatwounds that isn't wound with so much silk? I'd love to get something I could string through the body, but these weren't even coming close. Maybe a set with a tapered B? I'd assume they'd have to be extra long to string through the body (I wouldn't string the B through; I'd top-load that one). I'd really rather not have to replace the bridge just to accommodate the strings.
Has anyone else noticed this with the 2008 and later American standards?
