Circle K issue - buzzing, and it's not the frets, nut or hardware

The 3rd and 5th strings (A and B) make a very faint buzz. More like a pfpfpfpfpfpfpfpfpfpfpf sound. It's not fret buzz, rattling saddles, loose screws, etc. I swapped tuners and the same 2 strings made the same buzz. I then tried D'addario and TI strings and the buzz was gone. My first guess was that the trimmed end was rattling in the tuner post. I tried trimming a tiny piece off the end, but that didn't help. My guess is that the strings are defective.

Any other ideas? I emailed Circle K, but they're at NAMM and probably swamped with emails by now.

Could be a loose winding at the bridge. You might try

Call them up or email them, or leave a message for them via FB. See what they think. They might be backlogged due to just coming back from NAMM though.

It could be that the nut is cut a little deeper in that the string that came on it before may have been a heavier gage then putting a lighter gauge it is going deeper in the nut slot and the buzz you hear is the string contacting the first second od third fret.Take a single staple out of regular size staple gun and straighten it out and put it under the string and tighten to pitch.if it stop then your problem is the nut is cut too deep for that string you are using. It could be it needs a string tree to put more of a force to pull strings down tight in to the nut.You might also want to check on how strings are wound onto the post.Last wind should be as close to the bottom of post as possible.I had a Dingwall Super J 4 which was a very early model that didnt have a string post.Later production now has a string post on them now.

Skip's sending me replacement strings. He said it's the result of gaps in the winding, which happens on rare occasion due to their particular winding process.

I had a couple Circle K guitar strings do that to me, but it was one set out of like 20. It was less a rattle and more of a sustained harmonic noise, more like a ringing (probably the difference between the tiny guitar string and bigger bass string) Only really noticed it acoustically, most of the time even if I recorded directly into my DAW I didn't notice it.

Even ringing and rattling I like them better than most brands, and the other 99% of the time when they work perfectly it's no contest.

Sounds like what I had on a B string. It sounded like it was rattling on itself. Skip sent me another one.
