Circle K strings (with clips!)

Hey guys,

Here's a clip comparing Circle K strings to SIT strings. The SITS are Nickel and of uneven tension the CK are even and a hybrid material. For those of you who haven't heard of Skip and his strings check the website out: http://circlekstrings.com/store/index.html

These are great strings that really sing, easily my favorite out of SIT, GHS, DR, Warwick, Fender, and a few other beands I'm forgetting.

Basically the CK sound and feel superior. The clarity and openness of the strings is impressive and if you listen to the clips you can really hear that difference, IMO, even through the mask of my bad playing and the MP3 compression.

Additionally the feel is much more pleasant. Both the texture and tension are enjoyable and it's easy to play for hours. A lot of the inconsistencies of my sound that I had, previously, compensated for with EQ are gone. My B and G strings used to be unpleasantly louder than the others and that's not the case anymore. I also got to turn my tweeter off (not that you hear that, the clips are DI) and enjoy the sweet treble and comfortable presence of the CK strings. Not in your face, or brash, but open and clear.

The clips are structured like this: there'll be a line played first with the SIT, then a seconds pause and the same (or similar) line played with the CK strings. No studio tricks, plugged straight into the digital converter, no EQ or compression, or anything like that.

Arrrgh... the larger strings are tapered. That sucks! Don't like tapered strings at all.

Nice, from your clips it sounds like they are somewhat brighter voiced, which is good, coming from a Hi Beams user!

Yes, they are bright. But not unpleasantly so!

The word I come back to is clear. DRs were always a little too bright for me, in your face type of deal. These are just...lovely!

I can't hear a huge difference in some of the latter clips. The first pairing, I can, and I prefer the CKs.

I don't venue up the neck in these clips, my intonation gets spotty - I notice a much more pleasant bass end and treble extension. So it makes sense the first clip is easiest to hear the difference. Additionally the harmonics sound, in person, substantially more organic and clear, less forced and muffled.

I think there's less flub and tub in the lower registers, personally.
