| Skip at CKS recommends exceeding 30 pounds (extra-light) for the best tone, but this depends on gauge, thinner strings and plains have a lower practical minimum. As for an upper limit contact Skip at the techinfo address, it depends on the gauge. The tension chart has values up to 60 pounds for the thicker strings ... perhaps this is the average break tension for those? I'm guessing you'll be fine up to 50 pounds (medium-heavy) on the thicker strings. The thin wounds have thin cores and have much lower break tensions.
I'm wondering if the highest tension value shown for a string is the break tension ... ?
