Hey does anyone know when the circle K site will be back up? It's been down for a couple days. I just found out about the site and I need a 4 string drop tune set asap. Does anyone know of anyone else that sells drop sets?

HELP IS ON THE WAY!

Hey man,

Check out juststrings.com, as they have EVERYTHING you could possibly need when it comes to strings.

Hope this helps, bro!

DR strings makes the DDT set made for drop tuning.

He had a family emergency. The site was still up when I last visited, but it indicated that he would be closed for a couple of weeks, IIRC.

That was about a week ago, so I would try again early next week...

As a Circle K customer whose recent order was delayed, I've been in contact with both Skip Fantry and Christopher Cardone in the last few days.

Chris had been running the shipping end of the operation, but due to a family crisis he is handing off to Skip. Since Chris is in Colorado and Skip is in Seattle, you can imagine the logistics of the move. They will reopen the web store once the switch is complete.

This comes on top of a huge November for them, when they literally ran out of many products due to the demand! So hang tight... they'll be back.

I know I'm not going anywhere else for bass strings!

Alright thanks for the info. I think I'll just have to play my 5 string while I wait for the balanced 4 string 135 set. DR doesn't go heavy enough for drop B in a 4 string set and I really like the idea of the circle k balanced set.

Chris and I are working on the transfer.

First order of business was fulfilling all standing orders and we have accomplished that. The remaining inventory is packaged and is being shipped within days.

If we don't relaunch the site before NAMM we will shortly after the show.

We would have preferred not to have to do the things we needed to - it shouldn't be too much longer. We do appreciate the patience lent us right now.

The DDT set isn't for drop tuning, it is meant for standard intervals at lower registers. The interval on the lowest two strings in the DDT set is a 4th - on a drop tuned set the lowest interval needs to be a 5th.

The problem is that too many players (incorrectly) think that "drop tuning" means tuning ALL the strings down.

Do you know if they carry any sets with balanced gauges similar to the Circle K Balanced sets?

I've been a juststrings.com customer in the past, and I probably will be again, but I don't remember seeing anything like this.

I'd love to try a set, my sister apparently ordered one for me for Christmas... waiting on that before I put in orders for the rest of my basses. Got the .124 drop tuned set to run Drop C in.

If you're desperate for something to use in the meantime a 5 string set without the E string has a good balance between the B and F#:

E .045
B .065
F# .085
B .130

Yah that's what I've used before, but I prefer the higher strings a bit tighter, last time I think I used a 135 single and the bottom three strings of a super light 4 string set - starting at something like .90 or .95
