Cleaning coated bass strings

Is there a safe way to do this? I usually clean all my other strings soaking them in denatured alcohol but I am curious to know if coated strings (black beauties) can be cleaned this way.

Most probably the black finish will wear off. Heck, even fingers wear it off. Unless you're really concerned about the color of your string, I'd go ahead and do it.

It's safe. I used the denatured alcohol method on 2 sets of DR Black Beauties earlier this week and had no issues with the coating coming off thus far.
