I'm a huge fan of DR and especially DR Sunbeams.. Unforunately they're hard to find, and the nearest corporate music store had a set of Cleartones with the additional low B. I bought on a whim, hoping to find the strings of my dreams. Practicing by myself seemed decent enough, no major problems.. They even felt nice under my fingers.. But as soon as I played in a practical setting.. I was astounded as to how horrible they sounded.

VERY uneven response throughout the fret-board and string to string and an extremely brittle attack. Damn.

if ALL you do is slap pop- this may be the string of your dreams.. but for anyone else... garbage. I gave them such a fair shot.. I just with that it wasn't a shot that cost me 30+ bucks.

I've used them with no such issues, but wouldn't say they're worth the high price tag unless you really, really hate changing strings and need the extra life. They do last longer for sure. I thought that they we a bit bright at first, but mellowed and maintained a nice sound for 4 or 5 months. A record for me.
